Born in 1960, Alain Maillard is the son of a diplomat and spent his childhood in the USA, Japan and other countries in Europe. He first studied management and then history and international politics. He worked as a journalist in Switzerland for newspapers and magazines (24 Heures, L'Illustré, L'Hebdo) and for Radio Suisse Romande. Since 2003, he has been presenting daily programmes such as Recto Verso, Médialogues, La Ligne de Cœur, on La Première (public radio station similar to France Inter).
